IF IT'S TO BE...

We've all heard the saying, “If it's to be, it's up to me.”
It's a catchy little ditty, but there's another version that carries even greater weight:
“If it's to be, it's up to us!”

God made that clear:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Notice those first three words: “If my people…”
God didn't begin with the government, politicians, or unbelievers. He began with His people!
Christians make up approximately 62% of American adults, yet nearly one in four Christian adults isn't registered to vote. And in the 2022 midterm elections, nearly half of religiously affiliated American citizens didn't vote.
A Study estimated that 40% of evangelicals Church attenders didn't even vote in the 2024 presidential election. Consider that the combined victories in three of the battleground states was around 230,000 while an estimated 16 million of us sat on the sidelines as decisions were being made that affected our families, our communities and our nation.
The promise is His, but the choice to respond is ours.

Here’s where to start:
• Humble ourselves. We desperately need God’s grace and mercy. We must remember:
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time” (1 Peter 5:5-6).
“And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).
Humility positions us to receive God's grace and follow His leading.
• Pray. Instead of merely complaining about our nation, let’s respond to God, who calls us to pray—to bring our concerns before Him and intercede for our leaders, our communities, and our nation.
“And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts" (1 Timothy 2:2, TPT).
• Seek His face. Before we go looking for human solutions, let’s look to Him.
“Your face, LORD, I will seek” (Psalm 27:8).
When we don't know what to do, we fix our eyes on Him (2 Chronicles 20:12), seeking first His Kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
As we seek Him first, trusting in Him rather than leaning on our own understanding, we can act with confidence, knowing He will direct our steps (Proverbs 3:5–6).
• Turn from our wicked ways. Repentance is more than acknowledging what's wrong. It means turning fully to God and changing our actions.
And God tells us what follows: “I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
If we want to see our land healed, we must first respond to God's call.
The promise is His, but the choice to respond is ours.

So what can we do on the eve of arguably the most important election of our lifetime?
We can begin by doing exactly what God has called us to do. First of all, pray.
Tonight at 9:00 PM, I’m helping lead a special prayer call with Jacquie Tyre, Dr. Alveda King and other prayer leaders from throughout the state. I’d love for you to join us—and please be praying throughout today and tomorrow as we lift up the elections and our nation.
And tomorrow, we have an opportunity to put our convictions into action.
Jesus called us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13–16).
Salt preserves, influences, and transforms what it touches. Light illuminates, reveals truth, and drives out darkness. Neither can fulfill its purpose without affecting the world around it.
Our faith is more than what we believe. It's how we live, the choices we make, and the influence we have on the world around us.
No candidate is perfect. But we can examine their platforms, policies, values, records, and proposed actions, weighing them against biblical principles and values.
Being salt and light at the voting booth gives us an opportunity to influence how our society is governed, changing the future of our nation, communities, churches, and families.
Don't let that opportunity pass you by. Vote!
