“The Shot Heard Round the World”

It happened again. Those of us old enough to remember can still recall exactly where we were when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The same when Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy were shot.

Some moments burn themselves into the timeline of our lives.

And now—just two weeks ago—A single shot took Charlie Kirk’s earthly life, but the echo of that shot awakened millions to life.

This wasn’t just a man shooting another man. It was political violence—and martyrdom.

This was the culmination of years of polarization, propaganda, and the incessant push toward violence—along with the demonic scheme to silence a man who stood boldly for Jesus.

Yet in the midst of all this, we also recognize that Romans 8:28 is still the truth of the word of God:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” —Romans 8:28

The worldwide awakening and revival that has been fanned into flame from this tragedy is unprecedented since the first Christian martyr, Stephen.

God is speaking through his word,

“Unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains a single kernel; but if it dies it produces a great harvest.” John 12:24

God is speaking through prophets as well,

“Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” —Amos 3:7

In 2022, Charlie Shamp—who ministers frequently at my pastor friend’s church—delivered a word in Phoenix, the headquarters of Turning Point USA.

At first, he thought the prophecy might have been fulfilled when President Trump was shot.

But now, after the assassination of Charlie Kirk—a bold, born-again believer and minister of the gospel—he knows.

This was it. The word was more specific than he first understood.

And now, that word—and the shot heard round the world—continues to echo, stirring an army of intercessors and awakening a generation of spiritual warriors.

Poet Ralph Waldo Emerson coined the phrase “the shot heard round the world” to mark the moment when farmers-turned-fighters stood up against tyranny and lit the fuse of the American Revolution.

That shot was more than gunpowder—it was a prophetic catalyst that birthed a nation.

And now, we’ve heard it again. Only this time, the battlefield is spiritual—and the revolution is revival.

Charlie’s death has become a matchstick—igniting hearts and exposing darkness.

  • Churches are overflowing.

  • Streams of prayer and worship are surging —online and in-person.

  • Students are standing boldly on campuses.

  • Public figures who were once silent are now speaking with holy conviction about Jesus and the Gospel.

This is not just reaction. This is resurrection.

Many of us have watched hours of video surrounding the assassination and memorial service. But let’s not just watch revival. Let’s fuel it.

  • Fan the Flame

Prayer is not a reaction to revival—it is the engine of it. The saints have been crying out for awakening, and God is answering. Now we must keep the fire burning through fervent intercession.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” —James 5:16

“They all joined together constantly in prayer…” —Acts 1:14

Revival may be sparked by a moment, but it is sustained by a movement of prayer.

  • Speak the Truth

We are not called to be quiet in a time of confusion. We are not called to blend in—we are called to stand out. Now is the time to proclaim Jesus with love, clarity, and conviction.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” —Matthew 5:14

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season…” —2 Timothy 4:2

Speak it boldly. Live it humbly. Shine it clearly.

  • Honor the Martyr

The blood of the righteous is not just spilled—it speaks. Like Abel’s blood cried out from the ground, and like Stephen’s death sparked a movement, Charlie’s life now prophesies.

“When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God…” —Revelation 6:9

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”— Rev 12:11

Their sacrifice is not an end—it’s a beginning. Let the seed that Charlie Kirk and other martyrs be planted in the fertile soil of our willing hearts.

The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” — Tertullian

  • Discern the Times

We are not living in neutral days. These are prophetic hours, and we must stay spiritually awake. The enemy is loud—but God is louder. Don’t be lulled into apathy or confusion.

“the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do” —1 Chronicles 12:32

Let's not miss the time of God’s visitation. Where we’ve been asleep—let’s wake up. Where we’ve been distracted—let’s refocus. Where we’ve leaned on the wisdom of men— let’s seek the wisdom of God.

This Is Our Hour. As Mario Murrilo titled his book, “It's Our Turn Now: God's Plan to Restore America Is Within Our Reach,”  the moment to stand has come.

Charlie Kirk would wholeheartedly agree with what Tucker Carlson said at his memorial “The only real solution is Jesus."

Charlie may have fallen, but his legacy is rising—in every soul awakened, in every truth proclaimed, and in every dark place pierced by the gospel. The fire has been lit, and now it’s time to carry it forward.

So let’s rise together. Let’s gather with boldness, worship with passion, and testify with power. Let’s declare the Word of God like never before.

The shot has been heard round the world—now let’s amplify the sound of heaven that’s been released.
