Truth Be Told - Opposition is Opportunity

ree

Starting in 2018, for more than two years, I heard one discouraging doctor’s report after another:

“Your cancer is incurable.”

“You probably won’t live very long.

“I’ve never seen treatments fail this badly.”

“We really don’t know what to do about your Long Covid.”

Each statement hit like a brick wall—stacking up into what looked like an immovable barrier. But somewhere in the middle of that barrage of opposition, I began to recognize something deeper: these weren’t just obstacles. They were invitations.

Believing wasn’t easy or automatic. So, I did what I knew to do—I saturated myself in worship, surrounded myself with healing scriptures, and leaned hard on the prayers of faith-filled friends.

Now, years later—having been completely and miraculously healed not once, but twice—I can say with full conviction:

Opposition is often the birthplace of opportunity.

It may not look like it at first, but when we press in, we discover that every season of resistance holds the potential for breakthrough.

In the Kingdom of God, resistance is often the doorway to revelation. Opposition is not a stop sign—it’s a signal that heaven’s agenda is advancing.

Opportunity in the Face of Opposition:

  • Nehemiah: Builders in the Battle

Nehemiah didn’t just rebuild walls—he rebuilt the identity of a people. But every brick laid brought fresh attacks from Sanballat, Tobiah, and spiritual resistance.

“The people worked with all their heart… but we prayed to our God and posted a guard. —Nehemiah 4:6,9

There is no breakthrough without a battle. They built with one hand and held a weapon with the other. Progress and warfare walked side by side.

  • Joshua: Possessing Amidst Giants

The promised land wasn’t vacant. It was occupied by giants and fortified cities.

“I will give you every place where you set your foot.” —Joshua 1:3

“Be strong and courageous… do not be afraid; the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:9

There is no triumph without trouble. Opposition didn’t mean God’s promise failed—it meant the time had come to claim it.

  • Joseph: Dreams Tested by Delay and Betrayal

Joseph had a dream from God—but was met with a pit, prison, and false accusations before the palace.

“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” —Genesis 50:20

There is no testimony without the test. God used every form of opposition to shape Joseph into the very leader Egypt and his own family would need.

  • Jesus: The Cross as the Conquest

The greatest opposition faced by anyone—rejection, betrayal, mocking, scourging, crucifixion—was the very pathway to redemption.

“For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross…” —Hebrews 12:2

There is no conquest without the contest. What looked like defeat was actually the divine reversal of all human sin and death.

We can face every obstacle when we realize:

  • Every great door has enemies at the threshold. “A great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.” —1 Corinthians 16:9

  • We are more than conquerors. We don’t just survive—we take ground. “In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” —Romans 8:37

  • God builds strength through struggle. “Count it all joy… when you meet trials… for the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” —James 1:2–3

  • Opposition forces us to rely on God’s power, not our own. “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” —2 Corinthians 12:10

  • The light shines brightest in the darkness. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” —John 1:5

So if you’re facing your own wall of resistance—whether it’s in your health, your calling, your relationships, or your faith—don’t give up. That wall might just be the frame of the door God is opening.

Opposition isn’t the end of the story. It’s the beginning of a breakthrough.
